Lincoln is supposed to have said, “The Constitution is not a suicide pact”. Well, the same is true of the post-war liberal world order. It is that simple.

Justice Jackson’s dissent in this case is worth reading and is particularly relevant this week, nearly 70 years later as `rat thugs threaten lawlessness, again, in order to disrupt a result they oppose and to try and delegitimize the lawfully elected president of the United States.

“This Court has gone far toward accepting the doctrine that civil liberty means the removal of all restraints from these crowds and that all local attempts to maintain order are impairments of the liberty of the citizen. The choice is not between order and liberty. It is between liberty with order and anarchy without either. There is danger that, if the Court does not temper its doctrinaire logic with a little practical wisdom, it will convert the constitutional Bill of Rights into a suicide pact.
I would affirm the conviction.

The police should be recording the activities with CCTV of all who show up masked, who refuse to assemble peaceably and arrests should be made as required with prosecutions to follow and with appropriate sentences given to those convicted.
As of January 20th we become a nation of laws again.
