There are prepared foods, but you can find what you need for your own cooking, such as meats, canned tomatoes, beans, spuds, pasta, etc. But Aldi has made a lot of strides in the quality department.

They do have a good assortment of canned goods at good prices but also carry more basic staples and fresh fruits and veggies than you would think from those pictures.
They usually are well stocked with things like sugar, spices, rice, beans, fruits, veggies, etc. and have some of the lowest prices around.
They also have very good weekend sales specials.
Absolutely—these are the very foods that cause obesity—and I always loved hamburger helper in early marriage days—but I burned off the calories, too. These processed prepared dinners are high in sugars. But everyone is too lazy to cook.
