These days, I have found the only way around this problem is to watch only movies starring people who are already dead. We like “The Thin Man” series.I had the same thought the other day. We enjoy the older movies on TCM. Anything newer than mid '50's is suspect and has too much angst. MeTV works too, especially Leave it to Beaver and Perry Mason.
