What actually did Lewis do? I knew he was marching and sitting down but what else? Curious after reading Wiki. Just another race hustler?

I think he was beat up on a bridge during a march in the 60’s. He keeps on using it as a badge of honor.

Sympathetic media praises this Lewis character as one who almost died at the Selma peace march. I've not studied black history, but I believe nothing of the sort happened there. Tussling with police (democratically controlled, btw. e.g. Bull Connor) is a far cry from "almost killed."
