Just a matter of who has the higher standards.
I guess I have a low threshold. I couldn’t watch past Kathleen Mcauliffe.
Interesting.
I am not surprised their is a link, I only question the causation element.
The video seems to imply that conservative are most disgust sensitive, or that being more disgust sensitive makes you more conservative.
I would argue that being exposed to supposedly “disgusting” things hardens you.
Those who have always lived in very clean homes for instance might be very sensitive to how clean a gas station bathroom is and be more likely to consider it disgusting. Where someone who lives and has always lived in a pigsty might not be bothered at all.
Since people on the low end of the economic spectrum are far more likely to support liberals that provide them with needed assistance, and are also far more likely to live in horribly disgusting environments, they might simply have become hardened to it all.
Also, regarding her mentioning of "xenophobia" and germs...I've done a fair amount of traveling in my day.I've traveled the First World *and* the Third World.Africa...Asia...South America.I can guarantee that a decent, respectable person experiences a whole new level of disgust visiting such places...and seeing some of the people there.
IOW,this woman's just engaging in a slightly different,a somewhat more "scientific",form of "You voted for Trump? I bet you didn't graduate 3rd grade".
Idiotic premise.
I’ve seen all kinds of disgusting things and traveled to 3rd world countries to see how they manage life.
I’ve also seen dead people in car accidents and in a autopsy.
I just prefer to live a certain way.
For instance, I cannot stand a dirty bathroom or kitchen and I am constantly wiping everything.
I even have a bottle of alcohol in the bathroom so I can disinfect everytime I’m in there.
Used the toilet? wipe it down.
Use the sink? Clean and wipe it down.
I never spend any real time such as an afternoon cleaning because I am always cleaning.
As for stepping in dog poop, it pisses me off.
The flaw is in viewing people through a biological/behaviorist/brain connection lens. People, despite what we observe, are more complex than that.
There is a massive spiritual dynamic to the way we tick, which will forever evade the clinician watching with tablet in hand.
No but I know when I see it . . . heh heh
Well, that was a leftist propaganda-filled several minutes of my life that I’ll never get back.
It was, however, interesting that this researcher noted correlation between lack of disgust and lack of empathy, and given her thesis of leftists being far less prone to disgust, you’d think in the interest of even-handedness that she might deign to explore this.
Looking at behavior in large cities, with crime victims being ignored and going unaided, with hit and run drivers in cities rolling around having pedestrians embedded in their windshields begging for help until they bled to death, with the increasing isolation and visible lack of empathy among urban young, with the murder rates being through the roof among urban blacks and no one cares, it would seem as if an obviously intelligent person such as herself would perceive this as a worthwhile avenue to pursue in her related research into pathologiziing conservatism.
Insert Helen Thomas pic.
I’m not going there. It sounds disgusting.
“Let the snowflakes scream, wail, gnash their teeth, beat their chests, and shed gallons of their tears; for it is but music from on high and the nectar of the gods which pleases the human beings to no end.”
I survived Obama. #disgustingthings
I guess I’m more of a psychopath than a conservative, according to this. I’ve lived in and visited third-world countries. Had several “Dirty Jobs” as a kid. Blood, guts, gore, offal, insects, etc. are part of life, unless you live in an ivory tower.
This person needs some real-world experience, in addition to training in speech and communication.
