House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) insisted that President-elect Donald Trump's campaign promise to deport 11 million immigrants is not going to happen.
During a CNN town hall on Thursday night, Ryan was asked by a recipient of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) program who had with her a young daughter whether she would be deported.
"I can see you love your daughter, you are a nice person who has a great future ahead of you, and I hope your future is here," he said.
"What we have to do is find a way to make sure that you can get right with the law, and we've got to do this in a good way so that the rug doesn't get pulled out from under you and your family gets separated."
CNN host Jake Tapper questioned Ryan about Trump's mass deportation plan, reminding him of the campaign promise to create a "deportation force" to round up millions of immigrants.
"I know, I know," the Speaker said, laughing. "But I'm here to tell you, in Congress, it's not happening."

We need to show the world we are proud of our Country. Self Deporting won’t work....these folks coming from dirt floor shacks will be better off in the USA where they have FREEDOM AND LIBERTY AND JUSTICE even if you take away the safety net. They ain’t going back to toiletbowland unless you send them back.
Build the wall, Deport them all and bring the good ones back when we need them.....LEGALLY.
And.... Ryan is Pajama Boy in Rino Clothing. Trump needs to destroy and dispose of Ryan’s worthless political career.
The late Phyllis Schlafly stood almost alone in calling for Ryan’s primary defeat in 2016. She had her reasons!
So what Lyin’ Ryan is saying is that illegals can stay here while those who have been working for years to come here legally must wait many more years so his illegals can stay.
Yeah; that’s not gonna cut it Ryan. The people voted to rid America of illegals and that’s exactly what we expect our government to do which is what they were supposed to do from the start.
And the anchor baby loophole, which was never meant for anyone other than former slaves having children, should be closed. It’s only open by a tiny crack. It shouldn’t take much to clarify it so it can’t be used by illegals in the future.
