The new state of Jefferson would likely have only GOP types. 2 more Senators, etc, in Congress that are red.
Precisely. However, the Jefferson concept is not being
marketed that way. The fact is that the COUNTY of LA
is represented by no less than 11 state senators in the
state house while 20 Northern California counties are
represented by a total of 3 state senators. Even a
brain dead NorCal Dem’rat can see he is getting screwed.
Until 1964 the state legislature was organized like the
US Congress in that the state assembly was determined by
population while each county had 1 state senator. In it’s
infinite wisdom the Supreme Court ruled that one man,
one vote was to be the law of the states if not the
federal government. It does not make sense to me that
2 separate legislative houses are chosen the same way.
Why not just have 1 house? Or why not 3 or 4 houses?
