Never having gotten anywhere near classified info during my Army “career” I can't speak from personal experience. But one could logically assume that there are certain things about our subs that we don't want the Chinese/North Koreans/Russians to know. And I would think that upon being assigned to such a vessel crew members would be fully briefed on the subject.

Back in the 1970’s I was the S-2 (Intelligence Officer) for my squadron. I had to maintain security of Classified information that included data on 1950’s Soviet armaments. I even had to post Marines outside the doors of the briefing room while we covered this info.

Classified is CLASSIFIED. Private photos taken inside a US submarine are definitely off limits unless specifically authorized by the relevant authority.

“Everybody’s doin’ it” is no defense. Hillary has also (probably) gotten away with murder, or at least, “putting out a contract” on someone. That does not make murder OK.
