Donald Trumps proclamation that he would build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border was a major selling point in his campaign ... It was this commitment that helped propel Trump to the forefront of a crowded field of primary opponents ... and it no less helped distinguish him significantly from Hillary Clinton ... nationwide.
It will soon be show-time for Trump, ... millions of Americans are eager to see him follow through on this promise...
There is some angst, that Trump and .. advisers might be taking a step back from ... a wall ... instead considering a virtual barrier, comprised of sensors and radars, .... That would be a serious mistake, ... it would signal a broken promise, ... virtual fencing--... has been tried before and failed. -snip-
The Trump administration would be foolish to revive the virtual border fence in place of reliable physical impediments and not learn from the lessons of the past. -snip-
The Bush administration ... Secure Fence Act was ... political opportunity seized...desperate response to public outcry and seen as an enticement to push through another amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants. -snip-
Once the prospect of amnesty unraveled, so did the Bush administrations interest in fulfilling the mandates of the Secure Fence Act....the Bush administration ... began sidestepping the law, and incorporated a combination of less than effective impedimentsincluding vehicle-barriers and single-layer pedestrian-fencing to convey the mileage target was met. -snip-
Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff running point, the Bush administration utilized every stall tactic available to discourage physical fence construction. What ensued was a billion-dollar boondoggle. -snip-
The Trump administration would be foolish to revive the virtual border fence in place of reliable physical impediments and not learn from the lessons of the past.

1000 yards. Make it challenging.
We’d probably be able to raise quite some sums for the families of slain border patrol agents selling tags.
“o trickling their criminals back to them is an awful lot more cost effective than stationing two or more US Army divisions on the border”
Sending their criminals back to them in little, tiny pieces would be even better :-)

>> “Where border infrastructure is not conceivable due to topographic constraints...” <<
Where might that be????
If no wall appears after all that hooting, if any form of Amnesty should appear, I suspect that what will appear will look a lot like a primary challenge.

The US is signatory to treaties that prohibit mine fields.

You have the imagination of a movie director (escape from NY city).

This is the son? I saw him on FNC recently and was impressed.
Yes, Duncan D., son of Duncan L. Hunter elected 2008.
Thank you.
I like him.
Brilliant idea! Hadn’t thought of that...
A national draw, by region...Bag limit?
Personally, a set number of shots. Maybe have a few 200 yard stations for the kids and the punters.
“...in which a physical wall will impede (for instance) animal migrations.”
Or, cattle getting to the river. The gov’t is already in the process of taking private land for a “wall”. And even though a wall isn’t built yet, the ranchers aren’t able to get their cows to the water. Turns hundreds/thousands of acres of grazing land worthless if the cows can’t drink.
So true. Former farm boy myself, and raised a few cattle. Any "wall" has to conform itself to local conditions. The idea of a "one size fits all" solution is simply unfeasible in the real world.
Under no circumstances should water rights to the Rio Grande interfere with the construction of the wall. Texas is as big as France and all the other ranchers not int e Rio Grande valley, meaning almost all of them, can get water to their cows. They ranchers affected will be well compensated an should invest in wells or find another line of work.
Well, the nice thing about treaties is that we can withdraw from them.
