I guess I’m stuck in the 1980s! I was thinking of the “mini” pickup category, like the old Chevy Luv, Ford Ranger, and other Japanese made small pickups.

Me too! And one reason I'm so emotional about this subject is that I almost bought a new, fully loaded Ranger back in 2011, but for various reasons I decided to wait.

I'm missed my chance. And I guess it won't come again. Sort of like my experience with Karen back in high school. But that's another story.

The Ranger was the last hold-out. Toyota, Nissan, GM, and Dodge all put their small trucks on a growth serum.

I wonder if safety standards killed the small pickups. My recollection was Consumer Reports really trashed their record. You would think that is something that could be fixed, however.

Japan has some really small pickups that remind me of the Willy’s 150. Japan has a property tax that increases as the vehicle gets older so someone was importing 5 year old ones but the EPA stopped them.
