The vast majority of the instances seem to be a sentence or paragraph from an AP article, usually just a factoid. CNN also doesn’t offer much context as to what led into the item quoted. It’s not like she was cribbing whole speeches from foreign politicians or something like that.

As a writer, I can tell you, plagiarism is a hanging offense. It’s theft.

If this is true, I will be very surprised. I’d expect Monica to know better. I wouldn’t want to see her automatically disqualified, but I think an explanation is in order.

Yes, all those examples cited look like the worst kind of sloppiness, since almost all are factual, and would take not much effort at all to restate so that the info would not echo to and from the original sources. This may sound ridiculous, but I am 100% certain that no less than TWO of my own comments, made spontaneously on threads on FR YEARS ago, showed up in two different Ann Coulter books.

While I agree the article seems to correctly identify a good number of her sources, in EVERY CASE, the original wording is not used 100%.

All of it, has minor changes.

So I agree it seems to have correctly identified where she sourced from, NONE of it is completely lifted.

She’s reiterating data to bolster her contention and yes it’s copied and since itscoooed it should be excerpted and cited

But it’s not exactly plagiarism unless she claims it as her original

I’m ambivalent leaning toward sloppy and lazy or lack of time
