“This is why we need to be careful not to make it about ourselves, which is a super easy sin to fall into”.
But you and I are saved from every Sin by the atonement and propitiation of Jesus sacrifice on the Cross. Past, Present and Future.
That still is not an excuse, let alone a direction, to make it about ourselves.
Being pardoned for a sin — for the sin to be borne by Jesus — does not equate to the sin not having deleterious effects just the same. Jesus will mitigate those effects but will not entirely remove them.
And so, the more readily we learn to lean on the love of Jesus and leave our sin, the sooner we will begin to accumulate a real reward, becoming visible perhaps even now, but certainly manifest in heaven.
