I am at a loss for words to adequately describe this self-aggrandizing POS.
Which one was that, Dumbo?
Not a new phenomenon. I grew up in a Roman Catholic Italian neighborhood in the East Boston area. The Kennedy family was literally worshipped, they could do no wrong, and if you did not have the obligatory black and white photo of JFK on your living room wall, usually over the piano that never got used, well you were just not part of the club.
These people I grew up with, they would have happily discarded our republic and submitted to a monarchy of Kennedys and even to this day, a Kennedy on the ballot in Massachusetts is a guaranteed winner - or an effective vote splitter.
What I mean by vote splitter is this: If the Democrat machine wants to get somebody through the primaries in a local election, they get a "ringer" named Kennedy on the primary ballot. Now this Kennedy would have nothing to do with the famous Kennedy family at all. Likely he would be some drunk that happens to have a Kennedy surname and hangs out in a South Boston bar all day. Doesn't matter. There are thousands of numb-nuts, usually female, that will see that name on the ballot and shiver in near orgasm as they pull the lever for him. That drunken Kennedy barfly will automatically pull sufficient votes so that any challenger to the guy the Democrats actually want to put in place will come in third or a distant second. Sometimes the rogue Kennedy even wins outright, which complicates things only somewhat.
Of course, the general election is a foregone conclusion as often you could not even find a Republican willing to be on the ballot. When I was growing up, most Democrats in the local Boston elections ran unopposed. Republicans didn't even contest the local seats.
Point I'm making with all this is that worshipping a "charismatic" politician who is dumber than a box of rocks is nothing new under the sun. We have a lot of stupid people in this country who probably have no business voting. I rather like the concept of a poll tax, where you have to be an actual taxpayer and a net contributor to society in order to vote. Maybe passing a civics test is not a bad idea either. They won't issue you a driver's license if you don't know the rules of the road. Why then do we let people vote who couldn't tell you anything about our government other than they are the ones that reload your EBT card every month?
