A 22-year-old member of the Kennedy family arrested after a bar fight early Thursday was defending a gay friend who was being bullied, his father said.
"Conor has always reacted against bullying," said Robert Kennedy Jr. "I'm happy he stood up for his friend."
John Conor Kennedy - who goes by Conor - had asked a group of four men to apologize to his friend for calling him a common homophobic slur an hour before the fight erupted at about 1:40 a.m. outside the Bootsy Bellows nightclub, Robert Kennedy said.

He said he regretted Aspen police having to get involved in the incident because of the way officers treated the Kennedy family when his brother, Michael Kennedy, died Dec. 31, 1997, on Aspen Mountain after skiing into a tree.

I always knew the Kennedys had a sister who spent her life institutionalized but I never knew the ghastly story until today when this thread piqued my curiosity about Kennedy family history and I started down the rabbit hole of Wiki links.
Reading the account of Rosemary's "surgery" is just horrifying.
I remember the story. It comes as no surprise then that the son may indeed hate bullies if he saw his father exhibit those characteristics towards his mother.
