> Are you saying college athletes shoplift because of the oppressive system of slavery and there’s no other way for these poor exploited young men to get reparations?

This is the point where it helps for you to be aware of just how pervasive the controls are to make sure that the athletes are not compensated in any way at all, in order to preserve the laughable fiction that they are amateurs.

What they actually are is unpaid labor that gets strung along for that one-in-10,000 chance of making it to the NFL (where most will fail within a year or two).

The players are amateurs but the ones playing them are pure professionals.

I wouldn’t call it slavery, but I’d definitely call it a scam on the players.

They get compensated with up to several hundred thousand dollars in free tuition, food, private tutors, etc. Many could not get into college were it not for their athletic ability. Many who don’t play in the NFL make contacts that will get them higher paying jobs then they would have ever got otherwise. I am unsympathetic to the boo hoos and calls for further payment. It will destroy college football.
