Arkansassuspended tight end Jeremy Sprinkle for Thursday's Belk Bowl for what head coach Bret Bielema deemed, "conduct detrimental to the team," and it appears we now have the reason why. Sources confirmed to Jason Kersey of SEC Country that Sprinkle's suspension stems from an accusation of shoplifting during a Tuesday trip to the local Belk department store in Charlotte, N.C.

They get compensated with up to several hundred thousand dollars in free tuition, food, private tutors, etc. Many could not get into college were it not for their athletic ability. Many who don’t play in the NFL make contacts that will get them higher paying jobs then they would have ever got otherwise. I am unsympathetic to the boo hoos and calls for further payment. It will destroy college football.
Maybe you should talk to some actual college athletes and see what they have to say. It appears you have one perspective, and that is of the colleges and the broadcasters who make a mint off of this unpaid labor scam.
I have and no I’m not.
$450 to spend in 90 minutes wasn’t enough for his stupid ass? I hope they prosecute to the fullest. I don’t buy in to your they don’t get paid bullshit. Outlaw sports at taxpayer funded universities and let them become private clubs without school affiliation if that’s what you like. Most don’t belong in a school to begin with, let alone on a %100 free ride
I still don’t understand why 90 min? Isn’t Belk a department store for middle-aged women? Perhaps they could get something nice for their mom or grandmother, but what’s 20 year old boy going to buy there?
College football as it currently exists deserves to be destroyed.
No.
I'm watching the Belk Bowl presently. Arkansas was 24-0 at half time. Late in the 4th quarter it's 35-24 Virginia Tech.
Unbelieveable
Why?
Because I’m tired of the NFL using taxpayer funded universities as a free farm system. The NFL needs to set up a minor league system just like baseball and hockey. That way young guys that want to play football can get paid while they prove their football skills to the NFL. Most of these guys are getting a sham education anyway (I know there are a handful of exceptions). In my opinion the only schools doing it the right way are the service academies.
I feel the same way about Microsoft and GM.
“But all the players got $450 gift cards but had to spend them in 90 minutes and he got merchandise worth more. I would like to hear his side of the story.”
yeah, me too. that description doesn’t exactly sound like what i ordinarily consider to be shop-lifting, namely surreptitiously palming some item and stuffing it in your pocket or pocketbook and then casually sauntering out the door.
“Isnt Belk a department store for middle-aged women?”
Nope. Belk is kinda like a Southern version of Nordstrom. It carries high-end merch for all ages and both genders.
