Engineers as a group have a well-earned reputation of being difficult mates. Either your nephew is unusually personable for an engineer, or he really lucked out and found a girl with a similar mindset or a great deal of grace and patience, lol.
Actually, for a Purdue guy, he’s pretty fun to be around. But our family has an “odd” sense of humor, almost to being our own spoken language. If she was able to put up with him, and us, for three years without bailing, she’s a keeper.

Engineers have a very rational, logical thought process. By nature. Necessary for successful mechanical, electrical, materials, process, genetic engineering and coding.
Most females have a very emotional, relative thought process. By nature. And they’re more emotion-based in recent decades from the easy living/homemaking all that engineering has provided.
A good engineer and a typical modern woman are Mars and Venus at max.
