There's something about a Donald Trump administration in charge of the US National Security Agency that has folks taking government surveillance very seriously.
Encrypted email provider ProtonMail and encrypted chat service Signal saw a spike in new users after the election. What's more, privacy advocates say they're hearing from more people who are interested in covering up their tracks online.
Eva Galperin, a global policy analyst at the privacy-oriented Electronic Frontier Foundation, said she's received more requests for trainings than usual since the election. Concerned internet users include journalists and activists, Galperin said. Driving these groups' fears is uncertainty over how an unpredictable Trump administration will handle its profound surveillance power.

I’m not worried about hiding anything from a real honest government.
However, if Hillary had won, I’d be hiding everything as fast as possible.
The only people who need to be worried about hiding anything from Trump are those doing illegal things, which those people did NOT have to worry about doing in a dem controlled regime.

Trump DOES want to force Apple and the rest to be able to create ways for the government to have at the data. I don’t like it, but he ran on it, and he won. He is less likely to abuse it than Mrs. Clinton.

Maybe this is a teachable moment. Noone should be SCARED when a new administration takes office. If they are, that means the government has way too much power.
No way he could be worse than Obama and his IRS, NSA and FBI. Although, Trump did support decrypting the San Bernidino terrorist’s phone. He’ll bear watching.
