;^)
I have been hearing "bad" stuff about VAs, since the 1950s. Whilst some are good, many are HORRID and our vets deserve better; much better!
Of course nothing is 100%...hence the broad brush statement from me, which you upheld.
Did you read the article?
Did it say that individual vets were against what Trump has proposed? NO, IT DIDN'T!
Go read the full article and if you still don't understand why I wrote what I did, get someone to explain it to you.
Have you asked any individual vets?
And, you think the VSOs are misrepresenting their membership with an intent to harm them, or out of stupidity?
I read the full article.
Here’s your comment:
Good and those who oppose this, are either nuts or making money off it; perhaps both.
So, the vets and VSO’s have to be stupid and/or corrupt to be in opposition?
How about the family members of those vets who died due to lousy or no treatments?
So if one or more vet/s are against this, because they get good treatment, that makes them better than the ones who are for this? REALLY?
And yes, any organization can and does misrepresent their members; with vet ones NOT being exempt from that.
But you made an accusation they were either corrupt or stupid.
Every time I go to the VA, the most common subject of discussion is “this is the best healthcare I have received in my life”.
And I’ve had that conversation with at least 100 vets.
How about you?
So you and those whom share your good facility are DOGS IN THE MANGER; you don't give a damn about those not fortunate enough to be able to use the facilities you do, but rather, have to wait days, weeks, or just die waiting, get lousy treatments, don't live near any facility.
Okay...pardon me...I left out one category, besides "nuts" and crooked, there's the SELFISH; of which you are one.
I’m not saying free just pay the cost of my supplement to medicare. I will pay the cost of medicare and any deductibles. It is important that in any medical plan the patient must have some skin in the game, otherwise he abuses the system.
Selfish?
I advocate, and have for years, there’s an appropriate mix of VA and Private care that would most benefit the vets.
This is also the position of the VFW, American Legion and DAV.
By the way, most of the horror stories are from vets at Priority 5 or less. That’s the way the system is SUPPOSED to work. Folks at those levels are essentially “space available”. They have no service connected disability and are assumed to be responsible and have private insurance.
In all my years I have never heard a single Pri 1 or 2 complain about anything at the VA. Not even the food. And neither have the scores of vets I have talked to about it.
As an example, my father died of Pancreatic Cancer. Obviously not service connected. Because of his two Purple Hearts in Korea he was a Pri 2.
His doctor at the Seattle VA was the head surgeon at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Institute of the University of Washington. One of the top oncology surgeons and researchers in the world.
That condition could be treated under any private insurance plan and VA makes no difference. Though I doubt you’d get THAT volunteer doctor.
However, I have been to a VA sponsored and run group called “Seeking Safety” for PTSD and Substance abuse.
I met a kid back from Afghanistan and Iraq. His job was to cut the fingers off fallen enemy so they could be identified. In one day he collected 106.
How does he tell his story among a group of women in a private group that are there because their husband hit them? How does he take comfort that he is not alone?
Your ignorance has become derision and it’s pointed at disabled veterans.
Nice lies/propaganda, you're posting. Are you sure that you really belong on this site?
As I posted earlier, I have heard about really BAD treatments, FOR SERVICE RELATED problems, since the 1950s; from WW II vet and those from Korea!
But since I'm certain that you want the last words...have at it; just type away and everyone with eyes can easily see which one of us is the rational, unselfish one. ;^)
I’ve already received several private mails from other freepers saying you’re an idiot and I should just let it go.
So I’ll let it go. I’m sure folks can determine who’s rational without my help.
As stated I’m stacking DOD retirement and a DOE/NNSA retirement. Took the dental and vision plan from DOE and turned down the DOE medical due free Tricare now.
I’m told at or after 65 I have to purchase medicare part B and go “tricare for life” .... is that something y’all may know more about ?
Grateful if ya have time.
Not costing me a cent shy of giving em 22 years of service. Co-Pay of course but no 1500$ a month sick or not fee.
Haven’t used it hardly at all ..... yet I’d honestly like to know if ya have time.
Very grateful for the info. Can I use ya to bounce questions for me if I have more questions in the future ?
Just shy of 20 grand a year, all in.
That’s not atypical I don’t expect.
The M’Boro TN VA caused an HIV outbreak plus more as they did not even wash the damn device they shove up your butt and colon for colonoscopies. Just lovely AFGE MD’s and nurses.
My wife is on the Medicare Part B TriCare for Life - it works great. I no longer pay her TriCare premium because it becomes an automatic supplement to Medicare. She still has all TriCare pharmacy benefits (have to make sure outside druggists know that it’s still TriCare because it will bollix things up if they try to bill Medicare) and even retained her on-base PCM. She can go to any doctor that takes Medicare and TriCare picks up what Medicare doesn’t pay. Once you get used to it, you’ll like it.
Thank you very much for the information..... Merry New Year to you both.
Stay Safe !
