Debbie Reynolds Dead at 84
TMZ ^ | 12/28/2016 | TMZ

Debbie Reynolds -- who rose to stardom in "Singin' in the Rain" and quickly became a staple among Hollywood royalty -- died Wednesday as a result of a stroke, TMZ has learned ... just one day after her daughter Carrie Fisher passed away ... this according to her son Todd. Debbie was rushed to a hospital shortly after 1 PM when someone at the Beverly Hills home of her son, Todd, called 911 to report a possible stroke. We're told Debbie and Todd were making funeral plans for Carrie, who died Tuesday of cardiac arrest.

Debbie famously divorced Eddie Fisher in 1959 after his affair with Elizabeth Taylor. Debbie married 2 more times in 1960 and 1984. She played iconic roles in "Tammy and the Bachelor" and "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" ... for which she earned an Oscar nomination. Carrie's relationship with Debbie was the focus of Carrie's semi-autobiographical book, "Postcards from the Edge," which was later adapted for the big screen, starring Meryl Streep and Shirley MacLaine. Debbie's survived by her son Todd, who tells us, "She's with Carrie."

I loved that movie. One of my earliest movie memories. My little sister and I would sing that song over and over....Thanks for posting.

Yes. It was the first movie I ever saw in the movie theater. It was 1962.

I wasn’t until after my daughter’s death. It became a lot more important. When my late husband and I were dating at Mississippi State, we signed our notes: 1-4-3. I even had that put on our tombstones. Odd, maybe. Our daughter was looking at some pictures of our tombstones and thought it was kinda neat. It is very hard to start doing but once a person starts, it gets easier and easier. Now, it is like breathing. I am a hugger, too. Thankfully, my family is too. Never too much love these days.

Good thing to remember! Now, though, we always have to ensure it’s the animated, and not the creepy “live” version everyone has to do these days!

This is terrible news. I’ve always loved Debbie Reynolds. She was talented and oh so funny. Too bad she had such bad taste in men though. She deserved better than the 3 jerks she married. She was such a great entertainer. RIP Ms. Reynolds.

I don't know when, if ever, I've shed tears when a celebrity has passed. With Debbie, I did.

We've lost a true American icon- an American treasure.

Thanks for the memories, Debbie, and may God bless and keep you.

I would also recommend another great Debbie Reynolds movie, “The Gazebo” (1959). It also had a great cast including costar, Glenn Ford.

I grew up watching her movies (and other older movies, thanks to my dad). I LOVED Debbie Reynolds! “The Unsinkable Molly Brown” was my favorite. Oh, boo, although at least she’s with Carrie.

Remember being up all night years ago working on a sewing project. Was listening to local NPR affiliate, doing a several hours segment of all Leonard Cohen. First time I’d ever heard him and loved what I was hearing. Called the station to find out who it was they were playing. Became an instant fan.
