I was born in Rome, married my American husband there and have lived here ever since...now I go back to Italy as a tourist and they all tell me I speak Italian with an accent!!!!!!
I can well understand. LOL My Pen-Pal from England came for a visit in the early 70’s and laughed when she first heard me speak. She said she had no idea we here in southern IN talk with such a southern accent. She still says you-all in her emails to me. Also says have a nice day. These two remarks are what she told family at home about my area. Everyone in the stores wished everyone a nice day. She was touched and remarked it was very thoughtful.
So...now you speak Italian with an American accent, I suppose.
We can be a bit of a bad influence, you know.
