Drop them off in a wilderness 50 miles from the nearest road and most of them won’t make it out.
This brings up a belief of mine that most of humanity has become "domesticated". By domesticated, I mean incapable of surviving without outside assistance.
I am of the opinion that a very, very large portion of humanity would die off rather quickly if placed in a 1700-1800 type of society. Very few can make their own shelter, or start a fire, or grow their own food, or butcher their own meat, or treat wounds or illness.
Like a dog that would die without it's owners there to care for it, people, without the assistance of other people with specialized skills, would also succumb to harsh environments.
I believe that this is what is at the crux of the prepper movement. People are starting to wake up and want to become self-reliant.
I am woefully unprepared to take care of myself and mine, but I am working to change that.
