They sure are pricey: http://www.menu-prices.net/cheesecake-factory/
Appetizers - $11
Lunch specials - $12
Salad (guessing a dinner salad) - $15
Sandwich - $13
Slice of cheesecake - $7.50
Uh, no thanks. A lunch special, a glass of tea ($1 less than water!) and a slice of cheesecake, tax and tip is nearly a week’s grocery budget. Cheesecake is a no-brainer and can make a whole one for less than one of their slices. If I need to splurge beyond a baloney sandwich, I’ll make a big homemade $1.50 Scholotzsky sandwich.
Yes you can sure eat on budget when it’s prudent
1977 march....I was dead broke at Ole Miss.....too proud to ask my folks
Living on a hardwood floor in my very nice backpacking sleeping bag
Waiting on work money still three weeks out
I had 17 bucks
I went to Jitney Jungle and bought a pound of dry soup mix and some cheap tuna and koolaid mix
And had enough left over for some Kite tobacco
More important than food of course
About half through my learning experience my dear and very unpoor grandma downstate heard about my plight from one of her other 30 grandchildren and had her man bring me up a nice fat mattress from her spare rooms to Oxford along with 500 bucks for my bank account
Old George.....”Mr Chaylee....yo nanny dunn sent me up heah to Oxford town to fix you up son....why u ain’t call yer momma and Mr Sonny....dawn be foolish if u needs help...yous got famblee”
Boy that’s an era that came and went ain’t it?
Mr Sonny was my dad and the defacto patriarch by then my grandpa had died
