The 1983 Met production is sedate compared to what they did in 1997. Unfortunately it’s not on You Tube.
I can understand why!
Of course, when one goes to the Opera to see “Samson & Delilah”, it is expected that things are going to get “racy”.
However, several years ago, the Boston Ballet included some of those moves in the Arabian Dance in “The Nutcracker”, a ballet that is marketed to CHILDREN at Christmas time.
They were roundly chastised and have since cleaned up their act.
