The Shakespeare Theater of Chicago has been running a Shakespeare-like play called “Charles III,” in which this Charles ascends to the throne and attempts to re-establish the power of the monarchy. On the radio ad, the announcer says, “Charles and Camilla. William and Kate. Britain’s fate lies in the hands of one family.”
I don’t know if the play is supposed to be a comedy, and tragedy, or a horror show.
Yes, Charles III is an interesting play. I saw it in London with Tim Pigott-Smith. It focuses on Charles refusing to sign an Act, which he believed infringed on the right of a free press, this plunges the nation into a constitutional crisis.
It’s a very thoughtful play. Hope the Chicago performances are going well.
