And I know history as well but that doesn't mean I don't try for a the occasional funny with a double entendre and it falls flat with those who require an explanation. The "sounded different in the original German" is an adaptation of a remark often slung at Pat Buchannan. The German history behind much of the Brit royalty is no secret.

If your second paragraph was intended as a defense of how Brit royalty became so, I commend your ability to do that with a straight face.

No, German is not an insult and I made/intended no incursions into a Godwin's Law violation. I spent three years there in the US military and thoroughly enjoyed my time among the German people. I developed a few good relationships with Germans and one was a WW2 Fallschirmjaeger.

I make no defense. It needs none. It is an explanation that an institution of 1000 years is necessarily a hodge-potch of various bloodlines and nationalities.

I was not referring to you and Godwin’s Law but that awful front page of The Sun has already popped up in this thread.
