Islam is a problem even though most Muslims don’t kill people. The religion will produce a steady supply of fanatics who do kill people and cannot accept other religions.

Islam is a problem even though most Muslims don’t kill people. The religion will produce a steady supply of fanatics who do kill people and cannot accept other religions.

Here is the essence of the problem: Large numbers of decent, good middle-politics Americans and westerners fail to grasp the distinction, and the connection, between the (pleasant) individual follower of a deadly ideology and the (often unrecognized) realities of the deadly ideology itself. Would "you" be friendly with a neighbor or colleague who labels himself to be a follower of German National Socialism? A nice fella with a nice family who enjoys backyard barbecues and helps coach your child's youth soccer team? Who visited you in the hospital after your surgery? And brought a nice gift to your daughter's baby shower and adores the new offspring. A very nice fella.

This is where middle America sits. People have isolated friends or acquaintances who are non-threatening Muslims. Ergo, per the reasoning, none of us should have hateful thoughts about Islam itself.

We all hate Nazis, because we have been educated to understand the deadly reality of German National Socialism.

Somewhere near a majority of Americans do not hate Islam, because we have not been educated to understand the deadly reality of the Quran and Hadith and the 1400 year history of their practitioners.

The Quran and Hadith are the functional equivalent of Mein Kampf. The history of Islam is the functional equivalent of Nazi Germany in the 1930s and 1940s.

Our job is to educate our neighbors, and coach them to focus less on the individual person, and more on the ideology and practice of the ideological mass.
