It goes back to Abrahams two sons. Ishmael moved west of what is now Egypt. Ishmaelites became Muslims and believers in the Koran.
A couple of thousand years after Abraham, Mohammed created Islam based on the fact that Ishmael, while born to a concubine (Hagar), was technically Abraham’s eldest son and the covenant with God passed down through him. Jews trace their lineage through Isaac, his son through Sarah.
That is why parts of the Old Testament (including dietary restrictions) are included in the Koran.
