I know that Rudy has always been an opera fanatic, but I didn’t know he was also a fan of Nelson Eddy.

JO STAFFORD: IN THE STILL OF THE NIGHTThis 1948 recording takes a different approach. Its neither operatic nor a light dance band number. There are elements of the Big Band approach, but Jos voice soars above them.

Evidently the NYC chapter of the Nelson Eddy Fan Club was an “Opera” fan club as well.
Back in the days before VCRs, my Dad would get 16mm projectors and turn our living room into a movie theater. We saw all the Eddy movies. My favorite was “Balalaika” with Ilona Massey. It had a recreation of the famous WW1 “Silent Night Truce”.
