After standing by proudly but quietly as their son continued to protest the national anthem and draw intense criticism, the parents of Colin Kaepernick finally decided to talk about his decision and beliefs.
"Colin is carrying a heavy load and following a difficult path that he truly believes in. He is putting his entire future and possibly his life on the line for those beliefs," Teresa and Rick Kaepernick wrote in a statement released to The Undefeated. "As his parents, it pains us to read articles and tweets saying that his family does not support him; this could not be further from the truth. We want people to know that we are very proud of our son and admire his strength and courage in kneeling for the rights of others."
Earlier in the season, Teresa Kaepernick had said that "it's not in our best interest or Colin's best interest" to comment, but that was before virtually everyone had weighed in and Kaepernick had received death threats for taking a knee during "The Star-Spangled Banner" in an effort to protest police brutality.

If these parents had any brains, their ‘child’ would not have turned out this way, but since he has, the NFL is a communist organization because it won’t take the bull by the horns and do something about it...
Oh well, I haven’t watched football at all this year and haven’t even missed it...
Scum-bag parents.
His life? Really?
NFL football is taking the fall it richly deserves.
His parents are bigger assholes than he is.
He may beleive in what he’s doing, and thanks to the brave patriots who are remembered in the Anthem, he has the right to believe it and act on his beliefs.
But that doesn’t say anyone else has to respect him for doing it. Or to conclude hat he is a friggin’ idiot.
Are they liberal?
They men on the field in Baltimore yesterday ... THEY will put their lives on the line so jackasses like Colin can ‘take a knee’ during the National Anthem.
Yep. So much drama from those with so little to lose.
Don’t believe his parents are “scum-bags”. Their son is adopted, and, while mixed-race, identifies as black. I’d bet a million bucks his (white, adoptive) parents do NOT agree with his foolish actions, but believe their dopey son took a stand and that he does not know now how to back down. They want to support him, despite the fact they think his initial decision was wrongheaded and his subsequent decisions were made out of embarrassed stubbornness. Complicating things is that his biomom, who has been trying to re-establish contact with him for years, has denounced his actions publicly, thus putting even more pressure on his adoptive parents. While I’d like just to dislike Colin, I actually feel sorry for him. Pray for all involved.
Over the top? Attacks?... The Admiral didn't even use Kaepernick's name. Sheesh.
Excellent chance of that, IMO.
She is wearing a cross. . . but then that doesn’t mean liberal or conservative these days. The NFL may have approached the couple to come out in support in order to help ticket sales and make the NFL relevant.
She needs to remove that cross around her neck.
The Admiral nailed it for all Americans and for everyone who served for this country, and especially for those who bled and died for that flag...
Perhaps Colin would like to take his sorry arse to Afganistan and show the world how really brave he is.
IMO, he’s not brave, he’s gutless, spineless, and worthless.
Let me add this. The NFL is a racist cabal playing 90% blacks. I am dis interested — in fact I’m pissed. I don’t care about these steroid freaks any more. The entire spectacle is pagan idolatry. If they can’t fire this communist bastard and get the steroids out of sports— to hell with them. At last count, their viewership is down 26%.
okay so their son is a creepy ungrateful muzzie loving hypocrite...
Josef Mengele followed a path he believed in too. Is there point they are trying to make?
