Same here. I avoid sugar and grains and make a point of eating extra high quality fats every day.

Conventional dietary wisdom nearly killed me. I developed an autoimmune disease that my doctors said I would have to deal with the rest of my life. After struggling with it for years, a friend recommended a low-carb/paleo diet and I was desperate enough to try it. My supposedly incurable disease disappeared in days and I was able to get rid of the steroids I had been taking. Multiple doctors had assured me there was no connection between my condition and what I was eating, but they were flat wrong. Now I’m 50 and feel better than I did 20 years ago.

Last month I began drinking “bulletproof coffee” (coffee, unsalted grain-fed butter, and MCT oil) every morning. So far I like it, but don’t have enough evidence to have a firm opinion.

Huh. Having similar problems myself. I’m not overweight but I’m addicted to sugar. I think I’ll follow what you are doing and see if I feel better. Do you just eat the same things every day?

After low-carbing for a year, I cut out sugar and all grains, and have been eating a ketogenic diet. Keto is high fat, moderate protein, and minimal carbs from non-starchy vegetables and fruits such as berries. I feel amazing, have gotten rid of fatigue, brain fog, depression, irritable bowel issues, heartburn, and elevated blood pressure. I’m down more than 70 lbs., with minimal muscle loss due to truly losing fat and not muscle tissue.
I really don’t ration my fats - coconut oil, olive oil, butter, cream, cheese, eggs, avocados, and nuts.
I make baked goods like biscuits, cookies, cakes and quick breads using almond flour and coconut flour with stevia and erythritol to sweeten.
My bulletproof coffee recipe is 1 T. coconut oil, 1 T. grass-fed unsalted butter, and 1 T. collagen powder in coffee sweetened with a little stevia. It is delicious! For those curious to try it, you must emulsify this in a blender or with a milk frother so it gets creamy. Stirring the ingredients will just give you an oil slick on top of your coffee.
