What would the Russians' motive be for wanting a Trump Presidency. They would rather deal with Mattis and whoever the SoS is going to be than Clinton's people? With Obama they had a President that was a pushover, a SoS that thinks the greatest threat to the world is carbon dioxide, and a Defense department doing a gender makeover in the middle of a war.

If the Russians were involved they probably were trying to get Sanders in and got behind timeline.
