The Philadelphia medical examiners office says as many as 35 fatal drug overdoses over a recent five-day period might be part of a bigger problem: the national opioid crisis.
Philadelphia police and the medical examiners office are working to determine the cause of the overdoses and possible reasons for the spike in deaths.
There are overdoses that occur every day and people dont die, said police spokesman Lt. John Stanford. Whats coming to the forefront is the fact that people are overdosing and dying.
A dozen people alone died from overdoses Dec. 1. Another four died the following day. That weekend seven died of overdoses on Saturday, another nine on Sunday and three on Monday.

“We have more addicts every year. So it proves Darwinism is false. “
No, it’s because they’re saving the dumbasses:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naloxone
Well, Darwin himself was always able to find some reason why Darwinism should be true, even though it is false.
The first part of the article says “opiods”, which implies anything from morphine to heroin to oxycodone, but it becomes clearer later on that they’re talking about street heroin mostly, and that they suspect it’s laced with fentanyl (another opioid).
“The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported this week that more than 50,000 Americans died from drug overdoses in 2015, a new record. Heroin deaths were up 23 percent in one year - numbering nearly 13,000 and rivaling gun homicides.
In Philadelphia, fatal drug overdoses also outnumbered murders last year - about 700, compared to 280 homicides. The overdose rate nearly doubled from 460 in 2013.”
How many died from OD and how many died from firearm homicide and suicide? I mean gun violence would seem to include suicide, at least in this comparison as folks aren’t regularly using heroin injections or pill ingestion to murder others. There’s a lot more that die from self inflicted gunshots than die from the gunshots of others.

Has fetanyl become a popular drug since Michael Jackson died?
That’s what they are saying on the local news. Also strait Fentanyl. One dealer was locked up.Strange thing is that the police say once the junkies hear of the stronger drug they want it.They want the high. They don’t want to die but want the high.
35 more Democrat voters.....coming right up!...Whould you like flys with that?....
“Actually this one is Bushes fault, with Jerkbama as an accessory after the fact.”
I have a couple of questions.
1. Why is it Bush’s fault?
2. Isn’t this whole thing just another leftard hysteria, like DDT, Alar, Freon, saturated fats, and CO2?
When in danger or in doubt
Run in circles; scream and shout.
Sometimes people need pain meds, and if everyone concerned isn’t careful, addiction can occur.
Where is the evidence that this is happening more frequently than it used to, or that government intervention is warranted?
Iran-Contra was CIA Director/VP/President GHW Bush’s USA corner on the opiod traffic. He cut Clinton into the deal because Clinton had the state troopers to protect the Mena airport.
Sometimes drug lords (police, CIA) flood an area to flush out/kill a ‘wanted’ junkie.
Is cancer natural selection? Is war? Is suicide? How many vets commit suicide? Have you ever known anybody addicted to drugs or alcohol? Did they deserve to die?
Deaths from heroin overdoses now exceeds deaths by murder and auto accidents. The Mexicans are bringing in the heroin made from poppies grown in Mexico.
Such as vigilantism.
Afghanistan is where the vast majority of opium comes from worldwide (something like 85%). U.S. troop are forbidden from destroying the poppy fields or interdicting the opium trade. That policy was put in place by GWB. Poppies are grown openly within sight of U.S. bases, some using the effluent outflows of those bases for irrigation. The more cynical of us believe the CIA may be involved using the trade to finance black ops they way they did with “Air America” and Iran/Contra”.
Karma
Take away religion and social cohesiveness, and then wonder why people aren’t happy.
It’s sad these people have to go like this. But there is a resurrection. Come voting time, they at least get to rise up and cast their ballots for their favorite rats.
That’s only the effect. The cause is still not dealt with.
No, it’s consequences of sin, and it could be stopped. Problem is, it takes a great effort, and the politicians are not on our side in the endeavor.
Well said. To presume Darwinism true on this score is to also claim that Marxism is true.
