Exxon’s Rex Tillerson Is Top Candidate for Secretary of State
Wall Street Journal ^

Exxon Mobil Corp. Chief Executive Rex Tillerson has emerged as the leading candidate to become President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for secretary of state, according to two transition officials, marking the latest twist in a multiweek search for a top diplomat.

Mr. Tillerson moved ahead of other candidates, including 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, who have had multiple conversations with Mr. Trump about the job. Mr. Tillerson is viewed by some of Mr. Trump’s advisers as a mold-breaking pick who would bring an executive’s experience to the diplomatic role, said a person involved in the process.

Messrs. Trump and Tillerson met on Tuesday and are expected to speak again over the weekend, the person said. Mr. Trump has said he would like to make a formal announcement about his State Department pick about his pick next week.

Mr. Trump said in a statement on Friday that former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani had taken himself out of the running for the diplomatic job and other administration posts late last month.

* Supported Jeb Bush in primaries, and definitely didn’t support Trump
* Supports Common Core
* Supports carbon taxes
* Repeatedly states man-made climate change is a concern
* Against economic sanctions

Everyone else can have fun with this one, as I’m convinced the media is trolling us again.

"Exactly. And this guy is sitting on $150 million in Exxon stock. Too many potential conflicts of interest. No thanks."

Yeah, let's rule out every successful people. You made money? You're out!

You literally sound like the leftists demanding Trump sell the Trump organization.

It would be kind of weird to give Bolton the most important foreign policy position just after winning by running against Bolton’s and Bush’s foreign policy. Bolton supported Iraq, was with Clinton in favor of deposing Gaddafi and invading Syria.

Nope. Apparently, Trump is defending the pick in an interview going to be broadcast tomorrow.

Nobody likes the pick except the Trump can do no wrong crowd. This guy has half a dozen red flags just on the surface. Just wait until the rabid MSM dig their fangs into him.

Well the MSM is saying this guy is cozy with the Russians , which would explain why the Neo-Cons don’t like him ...the Neo-Cons want war with Russia , no one else does . If the MSM attacks this guy , we will know it was the right pick .

Sorry if this is redundant.
Wow! There be Trolls out in force. Yes, maybe I be family. Answering the big question, Rosneft was a big opportunity to use Exxon technology to exploit oil reserves in the Russian Arctic. But..as you guys (likely do not know,) Exxon has written off it’s venture investment because of the sanctions.
In oil extraction, it is a simple cost vs return calculation. In the past 40 years, governments have gotten more savvy and negotiated much tighter deals. The Russian deal was advantageous to both Exxon and Rosneft, but the reserves both were looking for would be dwarfed by the potential in the US Arctic Reserve in Alaska.
Too the point of experience and qualification.. Rex Tillerson had to personally assuage the concerns of the Emir of Qatar when Exxon brought the cheapest LNG production facility in Papua New Guinea.
I knew Rex Tillerson 40 years ago, and I knew that he was destined to greatness. He is also a humble person.

Yeah, he knows how to make deals. That’s why he was picked. Not because of his views on common core or some other policy

Then explain to me his SoL pick who is all for cheap labor from across the border and said that there are plenty of jobs out there that the American people will not do.

Go ahead explain away that pick.

How is that putting all Americans FIRST in line to get jobs above ALL others especially the illegal invaders that have swarmed our country.

I will explain it for you. It is big business groups getting together wanting cheap labor and now that they are in charge they will have cheap labor and the American worker will suffer. There, explained. Nothing changes.

“Lodi, give us a profession or a name...OR SHUT UP!”

Not exactly the kind of response I would expect in a conservative forum

Ee don’t need globalists in *any* positions in a conservative administration. How about a real conservative, with conservative views, diplomatic experience...and not someone who is most comfortable operating in the swamp. I don’t have a name, but surely someone like Trump, Pence and Bannon can come up with a name???

Out of every profession, can you come up with one that won’t profit as SOS, yet has experience to talk with world leaders?

Out of every person you can think of, who should it be?

I am sick of supposed conservatives acting like liberals, pointing fingers and not helping a damn bit.

That goes for you, too.

“Out of every profession, can you come up with one that won’t profit as SOS, yet has experience to talk with world leaders?”

I’m not really concerned about that aspect. I am far more concerned about the worldview.

“I am sick of supposed conservatives acting like liberals, pointing fingers and not helping a damn bit.”

Anger management issues? Seek counseling.

“not helping a damn bit”

Real Christians don’t curse in a public forum, either.
