When Stein went to Goldsmith she was asking for the recount here to start two days early, over ruling our state law in fact.
But she also got him to say that he was essentially in charge of whether or not the recount could stop.
Or he volunteered for the job.
Whichever it was, it was icing on the cake and not necessary for the ruling.
So this guy is in this for the power-sadist element. He loved saying that our state laws don't matter and he was bigger than them. He loved adding that he alone could say when the recount would end.
Now do you think this same jerk is going to say 'oh sure, stop the recount'? I remain doubtful.
He will. If he doesn’t AG will go immediately to 6th circuit and ask them to dissolve his order because he is costing Michigan taxpayers money by extending an illegal recount.
It is wise to be doubtful, but keep in mind that the court superior over his, the 6th Circuit, has said that the federal courts will defer to the state, when the state gets around to deciding the appeal (which it did, at just about the same time the 6th Circuit went on the record upholding 'precautionary recounting in violation of the state waiting period.'
He's s democrat, so it would be entirely within character for him to use his mistake as the reason counting must continue. Maybe he'll assert that the fate of "the law" demands his order be upheld.
Makes a much sense as his order does, in that his order amount to "elections without recounts are a violation of the constitution."
