Ironic that you'd make the Yamato comparison because the above quote from the article is false. The I-400 Japanese aircraft launching diesel super subs in WWII were longer — 122m long (400ft), and roughly the same tonnage (I'm not sure which 'ton' the article uses). Very impressive technology which happily the Japanese held off employing until too late.
