Ironic that you'd make the Yamato comparison because the above quote from the article is false. The I-400 Japanese aircraft launching diesel super subs in WWII were longer 122m long (400ft), and roughly the same tonnage (I'm not sure which 'ton' the article uses). Very impressive technology which happily the Japanese held off employing until too late.
