Michael Slager, the officer who faced murder and manslaughter charges for shooting an unarmed black man in the back, will face a re-trial after the jury deadlocked over his case on Monday and experts say there's still a strong case against him.
While eleven jurors backed convicting an officer for the shooting at one point, according to a note written by one of the jurors, a holdout juror said he felt he could not vote to convict the officer in "good conscience."
Prosecutors swiftly announced they would re-try the case, which is a legal option after any jury deadlocks.

I see.
Thanks.
Got it.
Thanks.
Murder requires malice aforethought. In other words, premeditated intent. There is no evidence of that here.
Manslaughter would be plausible.
By the way the “planted weapon” was Slager’s taser.
A Taser is a weapon and Slager dropped his Taser next to Scott and then lied.
And you may want to review Second Degree Murder.
Why is one person voting not guilty a deadlock?
The jury votes 11 to 1. If its not unanimous, that is the jury verdict. If that means they cannot convict because it isn’t unanimous, then thats the answer of the jury.
Isn’t a jury that can’t reach a unanimous verdict, given their answer?
Should the taser have been left unattended?
We all saw the video, so the usual pro-police do-no-wrong spin aint going to cut it with this one.
...
Funny how the trial lasted much longer than the video, and the jury had 25 pages of instructions from the judge.
“Should the taser have been left unattended?”
Slater should have secured the Taser and not lied about how the Tazer found its way next to Scott’s body.
“We all saw the video, so the usual pro-police do-no-wrong spin aint going to cut it with this one.”
There is a lot of that.
Mostly by people who desire a police state.
One thing I learned yesterday is that Slager testified that he thought Scott still had the taser in his hand when he took off.
Murder is the unlawful killing of a human being with malice aforethought. http://codes.lp.findlaw.com/uscode/18/I/51/1111
Manslaughter is the unlawful killing of a human being without malice. http://codes.lp.findlaw.com/uscode/18/I/51/1112
The murder charge was not supported by the evidence. A manslaughter charge would be plausible.
So if I point out some facts from the trial you are going to imply that I want a police state. Got it.
I’m not saying the man is without any fault, I take issue with the article’s “shooting an unarmed black man” which implies an innocent black man was killed by a cop because he was black. All day reports have been “a white police officer who shot an unarmed black man”, these yellow journalists are sick bastards. At least this report didn’t mention the cop being “white”.
Point out all the facts you like, I never said that you, or anyone specifically wanted a police state. I simply said that there are people who want a society where the police have absolute power and are not held accountable for their actions, otherwise known as a police state.
From your link-
“Any other murder is murder in the second degree.”
Second degree murder does not require premeditation.
“One thing I learned yesterday is that Slager testified that he thought Scott still had the taser in his hand when he took off.”
That does not explain why he picked up the Taser from a location 15ft from Scott and then dropped it right next to Scott.
other phrases:
murderer
manslaughterer
police officer who shot an unarmed fleeing suspect in the back multiple times, who was no threat at the time
police officer who picked up a taser and walked it over to the shooting victim and dropped it near his body in a blatant effort to stage a crime scene
