The Dakota Access Pipeline will not go ahead at the Standing Rock Indian reservation, it was announced Sunday.
Moments after the decision was announced Cheyenne River Sioux Tribal Council Chairman Harold Frazier told DailyMail.com that he was 'shocked' by the news, which he'd received from Jo-Ellen Darcy, United States Assistant Secretary of the Army.
The camp erupted into cheers as the news spread that the US Army Corps of engineers would not enforce an easement that would have allowed a pipeline to run under Lake Oahe half a mile south of their reservation, potentially affecting the tribe's drinking water and infringing on land rights.

The time to discuss alternative routes is BEFORE construction. That was done. The Standing Rock Sioux were invited to the party. Hundreds of adjustments and route changes were made before construction started. This had all been approved.
The pipeline does not cross Tribal land.
This isn't just moving a line on a map, but now involves tens of miles of emplaced pipe, valves, pumping and monitoring equipment. You can't just load it on the truck and move it over. If not abandoned, the pipe would have to be dug up, cut into sections, re-inspected, moved, welded back together, and buried again. The old route would have to be reclaimed. What you are saying is like saying "Maybe this parking lot would look better over there".
the dude in that picture wasn’t even indian- he was italian beleive it or not

Did he get a Gig teaching ONE Class at Harvard for $350.000 a year?
I’m not sure on the actual workings of the Corps of Engineers thing. Trump may or may not been able to change anything. I think he should order a review of it all, and if everything was done on the up-and-up with environmental reviews, land ownership, etc., the pipeline should be build.
Just because some Indians that refused to be in on the process are pissed, or the activists that thought this would be a cool thing to protest isn’t a reason to shut down the pipeline.
A new route to complete this little bit of pipeline will take years and years with new environmental and historical studies, permitting, etc. (Which have already been done on the existing route).
If I was a cartoonist I would have the first panel with George Bush standing on the rubble pile saying “And the people that did this will hear from all of us very soon!”
The next one is obama, facing a half-dozen teepees blocking the road waving a white-flag saying “We give up!”
Good, they can shuttle the oil across the reservation by truck or better yet, rail. We will see how long it takes until they beg the pipeline to be quietly spliced together.
The Obama Administration has come down firmly on the side of environmental terrorists, and ignored the rule of law to do so. With this decision, every time someone breaks ground for an infrastructure project, they will be looking over their shoulder, and waiting to try to counteract the inevitable lies propagated by the Media.
Every industry, every project will be completed only at the whim of the mob.
As for the water intake... “Water intake to be moved less than two miles from dangerous crude rail”

I can’t count the number of times rail lines and roads cross bridges over tributaries to the same water source. Both truck traffic and even rail transport have had their problems, too. Are the tribe’s members going to protest every time a drop of oil crosses a stream?
This has been a campaign of lies from the start, and any media outlet which has propagated these lies should be suspect in all things in the future. These facts are a matter of record, and any reporter who desired to know the truth would have found them out. Any reporter who desired to tell the truth would have done so.
Therefore, any media pimps who have either been so ‘motivated’ or so lazy as to repeat the memes of the environmental terrorists who have been sided with by the administration are useless in the future as a source for the truth—in anything.
The route does not cross the reservation or Indian Land. The tribe is attempting to exert authority well beyond its Reservation boundaries.
Better yet, let the tribe do without oil. Cut them off. The chairman has a gas station, don’t fill the tanks.
I know that but the roads to truck the oil may.
Now I see Rt.12 goes right thru the middle of the reservation.
jafojeffsurf, where is it you live that you can say no one else laid claim to it before you? Could it be you are Kennewick Man?
And YOU pollywog...how is it that you have taken one of their children?
She was THEIRS, PERIOD, to quote your friend jafo.
So...you are completely ignorant of what has already happened. Ok.
So????
LOL
As was Chief Jay Strongbow.
I did pray for a peaceful resolution. I really am not interested in the whole politics of it.
