Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says Congress will act early next year to repeal President Barack Obama’s health care law but delay the changes as Republicans try to come up with an alternative. […]

Speaking in Louisville, McConnell cautioned that the law’s critics “can’t just snap your fingers and go from where we are today to where we’re headed.” He said a replacement to the health care law will be done in a “phased-in way.” …

Why is McConnell leader? Why is he even a Republican? That party better wake up PDQ.

Just because he looks like a turtle doesn’t mean he has to work like one.

We get it, Mitch. A turtle’s pace. Slow and steady...slow and steady...

So slowly and steadily that it may not happen.

Not true.

The worst parts of Obamacare did not take effect until after the 2014 elections (four and a half years after it passed), and some of it doesn't go into effect until 2018.

If Obamacare were repealed with immediate effect, 2/3 of the hospitals in America would close within 90 days.

It is not going to happen that way.

1. Trump issues EO to no longer enforce the mandate.
2. Obamacare totally collapses in six months.
3. EO away restrictions on insurance companies.
4. We’re back to where we started.

So I guess that Mitch is finally admitting that they never had a plan and were just pretending when they voted to repeal it?

McConnell has awesome health insurance, and lots of options if he’d like to change it. Why should he feel any urgency? That’s a problem.

Really? Maybe you'd care to explain/support this ridiculous claim?

Certainly never had a plan or intent to ditch Zerocare, and are clearly against repeal even now. Their fully funding of same made that plain.

If McConnell was any kind of leader, it could get done quickly. But not only isn’t he a leader, he is the ultimate insider and GOPe who talks but doesn’t want to change things. They said, give us the House and we did, they said give us the Senate too, and we did, they said give us the presidency too, and we did. Now, even with PE Trump pushing, I expect to see the Repub RHINOs in Congress drag their feet

I don’t think Turtle face will know what hit him when Trump hits town...the Senate and the House are going to be so busy trying to undo everything they have done for 8 years, that the only thing they will know how to do is go home and sleep for 4 hours and back to work for 14 hours...

This is Trump’s schedule they will be working on, not theirs...and America is going to love watching how he ‘nips and tucks’ them every day...

Did you mean 2/3 of the closed hospitals would reopen if Obamacare was suddenly repealed?

That’s closer to reality.

True. I'm surprised at the number of people who, after all these years, don't understand what the ACA really is.

What are you talking about? The ACA had immediate effect on healthcare, all of it bad. Plans were gone in a flash, and costs rose in the same manner.

And what is this thing about two-thirds of hospitals closing? Hospitals have been closing while others opened up, but it’s been a net loss of such facilities.

They have been talking about a “3 year transition” where the law would remain in effect and Congress figures out what to do before it sunsets.

I wish they would all spontaneously drop dead.

First, the GOP must die. Everything else comes after that.

If you don’t bother with a replacement then it will take no time at all.
