According to two people close to the transition, Trump is moving away from two of the front-runners for the job, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney, the 2012 GOP nominee. Giuliani's international business ties and public campaigning for the job are said to have rankled Trump. And while Trump has met twice with Romney, he's said to be aware of the risks of angering his supporters by tapping a Republican who was among his fiercest critics.
Former CIA director David Petraeus is still in the mix, though both people close to the transition said Trump's prolonged decision-making process has left the door open to other options.
One of the sources said Trump was open to expanding his short list of secretary of State prospects. Among the possibilities: Jon Huntsman, a former Republican Utah governor who also served as the ambassador to China and speaks Mandarin.

I think Corker would be good. Bolton would attract attacks and the nomination process will be tough. Corker would be as good, without the drama.
Patreous would be OK, but wants to relive the whole extra marital affair crap? I am sure his wife doesn’t.
and Sheriff David Clark do look fine in his black cowboy hat..mmm...mmm
Based on the fact that he made a call with Taiwan, most likely Bolton
Hatch HAS outlasted his sell by date
I hope you are right! Bolton is really the only choice if it is not Giuliani or Coker.
former Sen. John Kyl-AZ. ?
I agree. I think it will be Bolton.
Good!
Remember when RINO George Voinovich cried on the floor of the Senate, he was so upset at Bush's nomination of Bolton to ambassador to the UN?
But then Voinovich later had to admit that Bolton had done a good job in that impossible position.
If Trump picks Romney for Secretary of State, I will support immediate impeachment.
Not thrilled with fellow hive member Huntsman, or the anti-gun Petraeus.
I’ve seen him in a ~White one too. He can mix it up...
Im still available.
We’re trying to drain the swamp, remember? :-)
That’s funny.
Rand Paul is threatening a filibuster against John Bolton, let’s call his bluff.
I am not going to take a position on Huntsman, but, a suggestion that Hatch has outlived his usefulness is not a negative in my book. Hatch is part of the spineless Republican crowd that doesn't actually want to govern and are happy to leave such messy things to the democrats so long as they get their cut of the grift.
I was always impressed with the Dad. Seemed like a smart guy who has done well on his own.
I’m hoping like a lot of people that it won’t be Romney.
Bill Mitchell on twitter linked to a new Washington Examiner article which says it could be Rohrabacher/Bolton:
“Two sources late Saturday said that there is an emerging “consensus package” of Rohrabacher, a long-serving California lawmaker who heads a House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee, as the secretary and Bolton as his chief deputy.”
...”Sources said that he [Rohrabacher] was previously asked his interest in being No. 2 at State under Romney, but said that he couldn’t work for a secretary who did not support Trump during the campaign.”
Bannon and Thiel talked to Rohrabacher for 4 hours by phone and liked him. According to the article, he might be heading to Trump Tower this week.
Bolton. He has neocon tendencies, but Trump will overrule him if needed.
The Trump Cabinet theme: COMPETENCE
SoS is an easy decision. John Bolton. Will drive the left insanely insane.
Oh I agree, Hatch has LONG out lived his usefulness...but I don’t believe a thing that comes out of Huntsman mouth either...
Huntsman is Romney Jr.
After seeing Bolton on Hannity last night, I think it’s him.
