HONG KONG, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- Former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger met with China's Xi Jinping on Friday, a visit Kissinger described as timely in a moment of political transition in the United States.
The meeting was held as President-elect Donald Trump took a phone call from Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen, an unprecedented move that could cause friction in U.S.-China relations.
On Friday, Xi told Kissinger, "The presidential election has taken place in the United States and we are now in the key moment. We, on the Chinese side, are watching the situation very closely. Now it is in the transition period," the South China Morning Post reported.

There are old men in China that respect Kissinger.He will announce to them there will be an emissary from Trump that can be trusted as well.
There will be no wasted time establishing new relations with China. To China it means they are of primary importance in the new diplomacy of the Trump administration. The development, the evolution, of the relationship will take time and effort. China is being shown that she is first on the list of Trump diplomacy, not as a threat but as good diplomacy

Personally, I have no problem with Kissinger easing the minds of the Chinese. To me, it’s a signal to the world, including the liberal media, that Trump is a capable leader and not an out-of-control buffoon.

However Kissinger is an American and I don’t think he hates Trump more than he loves America.
Kissinger met face to face with Trump. Kissinger has keys to China doors. They hatched a magnificent plot to begin negotiations for the deal. Kissinger sees and understands the change in China that many here cannot see. To have a hand in the direction of the future is a wonderful opportunity for a very old man
