I got this email from Consumer Reports yesterday:
Subject: Kicking families off their health care

Consumers Union

Dear Mark,

Six years ago, we fought hard to secure health coverage for millions of Americans. We won. Thanks to the power of consumers banding together, more than 20 million people are now covered under the Affordable Care Act. The number of insured Americans soared to a record high!

But the gains we’ve made are in grave danger. A new government takes power in Washington in just two months. And some in Congress are already threatening to repeal the key health reforms that expand access and protect consumers. That would devastate the millions of Americans who rely on these programs for coverage.

We cannot allow Congress to turn back the clock on progress.

Tell Congress: Don’t repeal important health programs that cover millions of Americans. We can’t afford to play politics with so many lives at stake.

It’s easy to forget how bad things were before we passed this law. But six years ago, almost half of all Americans were at risk of being denied access to health care because of pre-existing conditions. Insurance companies could deny coverage to children with cancer. Millions of young adults left college with no way to afford insurance. Families couldn’t get coverage for preventive cancer screenings. And insurance companies spent inordinate proportions of our health premiums on marketing, administration, and CEO salaries instead of actual care.

We can’t go back to that broken system. Our right to affordable health care should not fall victim to Washington’s partisan politics. I know we can win this fight if enough of us speak out:

Add your name to tell Congress: don’t play politics with our health care coverage. We won’t go back to the way things were before reform.

When consumers band together, we’re an extraordinarily powerful force for good. That was true in 2010 when we secured these protections in the first place. It remains true today.

Thank you for signing our petition. This is just the beginning of the struggle to protect our health care access and protections in the new year, and it’s heartening to know you’re ready to fight with us.

After you add your name, please forward this email to friends and family so we can grow our movement and send a more powerful message to Congress.

My reply:

It was built on lies!
You can keep doctor—LIE!
You can keep your plan—LIE!
You will save $2,500.00/year—HUGE LIE!
It needs to be done over.

Outright lies like this one "helped" pass the most unrealistic, fraudulently named "Affordable Health Care Act, also fraudulently referred to as "insurance."

In 2010, according to this outright lie letter, the number of American Citizens was twice the number of people (not necessarily citizens) who were then covered at no cost in 2010.

It's impossible to make sense of that letter if we must compare apples with oranges and lemons...
