Sarah Palin is criticizing President-elect Donald Trumps deal with Carrier, even as she is reportedly under consideration to serve as Trump's secretary of Veterans Affairs.
In a op-ed in Young Conservatives published Friday, the former Alaska governor first expresses excitement for the Carrier employees whose jobs are staying in Indiana. What a relief for hundreds of workers, she wrote. Merry Christmas Indiana!
But she goes onto to blast the deal as crony capitalism" and an example of the "hallmark of corruption" and "socialism."
When government steps in arbitrarily with individual subsidies, favoring one business over others, it sets inconsistent, unfair, illogical precedent, Palin wrote. Then, special interests creep in and manipulate markets. Republicans oppose this, remember?
Instead, we support competition on a level playing field, remember? Because we know special interest crony capitalism is on big fail.

There isn’t a thing wrong with the Carrier deal. Our tax code already heavily incentivizes them to relocate south. Correcting that simply levels the field.
Additionally, its simply smart to point out to them that their Mexican built product will be second place to an American built offering if they want to win US govt business.
Sarah is ....ill just say uninformed on this one.
Awww crap.
Should have known from the MSM.
************
They have been elevated over the years and think they have the voice or speak for the people.
Palin as an example has what experience? Some city council position and Gov. for a couple of
years. What else? Yet she has been in the forefront for years. I've become less impressed
with her over the years. JMO and obvious others will differ.
Don’t beleive everything in print. Or on the net.
I think Palin is wrong on this.
Govt has run so many businesess out of america because of what it has done negatively to businesses.
She acts like govt has been neutral to carrier and all others the last 8 years. And before that.
Besides the business that owns carrier has govt contracts. Doesnt sound like criny capitalismmdid anything to save carrier, moving to mexico before trump.
What if the original deal was crony capitalism?
Trump loves her because she is incorruptible. She will not be punished for this, because she is right, as always.
Coulter often is exactly like snakehead. I dont like either of them. She has too much populist gingrich crapola in her.
Excuse me? Welcome to America, we “spout” here.
Like you enlightened1, but why not simply create a business environment that is helpful to EVERY business, and not pick winners and losers?
Nice. Pretend to not know what crony capitalism is. Always smart to play dumb when you’re selling garbage.
[Welcome to America, we spout here.]
When I hear PALIN opine, I am reminded how her ‘opinions’ helped derail our Conservative Congressman’s reelection bid. A RINO is there now.
Yes, she really SHOULD know better and she should back off...ASAP!
It may not be the conservative thing to do, but its the -American- thing to do. Notice the constitution has no trade articles except the commerce clause. It does not enshrine any nutty theory that foreign trade should be completely divorced from government regulation, tariffs, and should freely undermine the nations independence or interests.
Time to be an American. Independence and freedom is Americas reason for being. Trade is a tool to that end.
Nope. TRUMP does not want “Yes” men in his cabinet; and he
is not choosing “Yes” people in any of the positions.
Sarah Palin is NOT a “Yes” woman or a sell-out.
What sort of GOSSIP are you peddling miserare? I reckon
TODD is older than Sarah; and they’re a pretty consistent
couple and family.
thank you.
reading the ACTUAL piece puts a whole new perspective on things, right?
The media hates Sarah.
The media hates Trump.
They would love to create animosity between these two and their supporters.
I don’t think it’ll work.
I read it she did not “blasted him” in any way..it was more a raised eyebrow saying she would like more detail on the deal
Any i would say again.. the one tax break was a state tax break to keep the jobs thier state
This is no diffrent then a state like Texas giving a tax break to attract this is businesses away from a state like California...
If a state can poached jobs from another state with tax breaks...then a state can poached jobs for another country with tax breaks
In fact when the US government starts offering tax breaks to bring jobs back from overseas that’s exactly the same thing are we going to call that crony capitalism?
Crony capitalism is classically if you have two or more companies inside the same country or inside the same state and one company is being favored over the other ...
In other words two different companies inside the same area do not have the same laws apply to the them.. the same government is favoring one company over the other
Crony capitalism is not offering companies from outside of your area incentives to trying to get them to come to your area or stay in your area
All companies in a given Market Niche and under ONE government need to be offered the same terms of business otherwise if one company is favored over another by a government that’s crony capitalism
But if the government offers business in a given Market niche outside of area tax breaks to poach them from another state or another country that is not croney capitalism as long that the other businesses get the same terms
So the question is Carrier in that state getting favorite tax breaks that Carrier competitors in that state don’t get?
I agree with you.
