You all already may know that Karen Handel is the first female Republican to be elected to Congress from GA. Curiously, though, she also is the first white woman of any party to be elected to Congress from GA (although there was an appointed Democrat Senator named Rebecca Latimer Felton, an 87-year-old segregationist and proponent of lynching who served in the Senate for one day in 1922), since heretofore the only women elected to Congress from GA were Jihad Cindy McKinney and Denise Majette.
Late June and the House will finally be at full strength, until Chaffetz quits in less than 2 weeks!!!
I wish special elections were a little faster.
