Patton is a very good movie, so is MacArthur IMO. They are worth watching just to reminisce when America was great.

Imagine, someone today, put in charge of a war, just kicking ass and taking names later, and actually winning a war for once? With minimal lives, minimal cost, and enjoying that good feeling of winning.

After the dems won in Vietnam, I’ve been looking for a good win.

.
Imagine if MacArthur had become president instead of Ike!

There would be no communism or socialism problems, nor would there have ever been any nuclear proliferation.

The Korean war would have actually have been won outright, Red China would have quickly died on the vine like an unwatered tomato.

I was 7 years old, going on 8 when the 1952 GOP convention was held. Even at that tender age, it was apparent to me that Mac was the candidate of choice.

My father had spent WW II in the pentagon, preparing “orders” for various operations in both Europe and the Pacific, and knew much about most of the generals.

He had nothing but praise for Mac and Patton, and would practically spit when he said Ike.

He predicted at the time that if Ike were to become President, there would be no end to wars, because it was the only way our economy could function under men who espoused such high taxes as Truman and Eisenhower.

He nailed it.

Isn't that what you meant?

And yes, I too look forward to America being both good and great again.

I never saw “Mac Arthur” the movie. Wasn’t that Gregory Peck? Can’t imagine him convincingly playing a no-nonsense general.

The sad thing is that we had another man very much like GEN Mattis as Deputy National Security Advisor under Bush 43, GEN (Ret.) Wayne Downing, who came to the White House right after 9/11. GEN Downing commanded an infantry company in Vietnam; the 2nd Ranger battalion; 3rd Brigade, 1st Armored division; the 75th Ranger Regiment; USASOC, JSOC and SOCOM. He was one of the finest men I ever knew; hard as woodpecker lips and a gentleman, but not an ounce of political correctness in his entire body.

When Condi Rice tried to chastise him for not attending all of her meetings, he said, “I can’t make all of your *&^! meetings; I have a war to run!” He didn’t last long in DC...
