From the earliest days of his campaign, Donald J. Trump made keeping manufacturing jobs in the United States his signature economic issue, and the decision by Carrier, the big air-conditioner company, to move 2,000 of them from Indiana to Mexico was a tailor-made talking point for him on the stump.
On Thursday, Mr. Trump and Mike Pence, Indianas governor and the vice-president elect, plan to appear at Carriers Indianapolis plant to announce theyve struck a deal with the company to keep a majority of the jobs in the state, according to officials with the transition team as well as Carrier.
Mr. Trump will be hard-pressed to alter the economic forces that have hammered the Rust Belt for decades, but forcing Carrier and its parent company, United Technologies, to reverse course is a powerful tactical strike that will rally his base even before he takes office.
In exchange for keeping the factory running in Indianapolis, Mr. Trump and Mr. Pence are expected to reiterate their campaign pledges to be friendlier to business by easing regulations and overhauling the corporate tax code. In addition, Mr. Trump is expected to tone down his rhetoric threatening 35 percent tariffs on companies like Carrier that shift production south of the border.

That's true of their parent company, not of Carrier. The parent company also owns Pratt & Whitney, which is where most of that government money goes.
"This is just more pushing the agenda to distract from the vote recounts. It's beginning to look to me like there really is something to hide."
“carrier, who will get BIG free advertising,”
Looks like Indiana is kicking in a few incentives as well. This is called making a deal. The Dems will scream that Carrier is getting tax breaks...so what...that’s the same way the state of Florida gets new business.
1,000 midlevel jobs is a big deal and the good will Carrier will get might be contagious.
I am willing to pay 10 percent more for American-made goods, but no more than that.
So America will keep its cool? (Badoom tish)

It might depend on what we have, whether it is a big, medium, or small ticket item.
American could mean luxury.
No U.S. business should be allowed to produce overseas and remain a U.S. business.
It’s also curious that Pence is not there ....
These were the same guys saying it was impossible for Trump to win.

The Gipper, who had the Iranians so scared they released the American Hostages on the day he was sworn in.
Right. He brought Carrier to my attention and I sure as hell wasn’t going to do business with them if moved to Mexico
And yeah, that 35% “tariff isn’t going to go away, if anything, it’s energized by this
Carrier is wise to get out from under the POTUS microscope.
$30.00 more for an iPhone, and with that comes American tax payers paying into our infrastructure, military, and space program instead of another countries? How is that not a better deal for Americans?
CNN still talking about flag burning and panel woman out of control that he is a dictator. Who cares about Carrier when we can discuss flag burning
To hell with toning down the rhetoric! The rhetoric is what made this happen!
What about the other 1000 of the jobs, where are they going???
