Trump to Announce Carrier Plant Will Keep Jobs in U.S.
NYTimes/2016/11/29/ ^

From the earliest days of his campaign, Donald J. Trump made keeping manufacturing jobs in the United States his signature economic issue, and the decision by Carrier, the big air-conditioner company, to move 2,000 of them from Indiana to Mexico was a tailor-made talking point for him on the stump.

On Thursday, Mr. Trump and Mike Pence, Indiana’s governor and the vice-president elect, plan to appear at Carrier’s Indianapolis plant to announce they’ve struck a deal with the company to keep a majority of the jobs in the state, according to officials with the transition team as well as Carrier.

Mr. Trump will be hard-pressed to alter the economic forces that have hammered the Rust Belt for decades, but forcing Carrier and its parent company, United Technologies, to reverse course is a powerful tactical strike that will rally his base even before he takes office.

In exchange for keeping the factory running in Indianapolis, Mr. Trump and Mr. Pence are expected to reiterate their campaign pledges to be friendlier to business by easing regulations and overhauling the corporate tax code. In addition, Mr. Trump is expected to tone down his rhetoric threatening 35 percent tariffs on companies like Carrier that shift production south of the border.

No Trump isn't. Ink-wasting NYT fabricated this guess out of thin air.

Carrier is wise to get out from under the POTUS microscope.
Any companies entertaining cheap-labor-express ideas might wish to examine motives carefully.

Way to go President Trump!!!

When I was working for Samsonite Corp. in Denver, Co. as a Security Supervisor, they decided they would move part of their vast company to Mexico...the Mexican people work differently than we do, they have a 3 hour siesta everyday, this didn't set well with the Company, so they decided to move back to America...problem...once your stuff is in Mexico it stays there, it becomes the property of Mexico...

People need to know this if they are planning on moving anything to Mexico...you do not own it once it's in Mexico...

Why tone it down? Keep the threat there so that even more companies have to think twice about moving offshore.

You can bet Carrier will be well on their way back to Mexico if the Hillary recounts in WI, MI and PA flip those states into her column.

easing regulations and overhauling the corporate tax code

THAT PLUS abolishing minimum wage and union protection will seal the deal for businesses fleeing the country. Tariffs are a stupid idea and make matters worse. Trump is on the right track with this and needs to go all the way with abolishing minimum wage and union protection.

Color me impressed if true (without actually hearing from Trump I’ll choose to wait to get too excited).

“Why tone it down?”

I’m sure the NY Times writer just threw that in the story, more BS, and I’m even more sure that Trump will not tone it down.

At least we know what the next Trump-Obama meeting will be about.

Trump: How are you doing Mr. President
Obama: Good, but let’s get down to it. How in the WORLD did you do that?!?!?

In 2008 between Barry’s election and Inauguration, I remember Job shedding freefalls that he would blame on Bush (for 8 years).

Maybe I just imagined that. Maybe it was “fake news” because no one ever mentioned it in the mainstream media.

I’m sure Mr. T also mentioned Carriers 10% of revenues come from Fed govt contracts. Shame to see a 35% tax on their Mexican made products and another 10% lost in govt. contracts. Can’t buy the man. Lol!!

Second draft:

Trump: How are you doing Mr. President
Obama: I’m still president so this Carrier thing is part of my legacy, right?

Please stop. There will be no change in anything. No electoral votes will change. No counts will change much if at all. Trump is still president.

Wow, where do you people come up with this stuff?
