Republicans — seem to always be playing defense and catch-up.

If Hillary picks up 700 votes that will only leave her 139,300 votes short

If past history is any guide; not likely.

The problem is that many Republicans (and many FReepers) actually believe that Ben Stein is a Republican.

A big Franken supporter.

I remember reading this way back when it happened - with utter incredulity I might add.

I thought; WTH, Coleman just threw it away - he didn’t even care.

Then we got Obamacare and I thought, he’s in on it somehow, he benefits in some way...

Also, is the republican establishment helping to defend the Trump victory?

I believe that the establishment understand how to best handle these situations. Are they helping Trump or Hillary? I am not so sure.

I always figured that it’s hard to complain about losing narrowly by a few hundred votes in an election where a third-party candidate got more than 437,000 votes.

Those Republicans were complacent jackwagons.

“[Marc] Elias, the top legal adviser for Team Franken on the recount, was involved before the polls were even closed. Schriock also had set in motion her plan that, at its peak, had 2,000 people working as either volunteers or in paid positions, to be in the field to observe recounting at polling places across the state. All were trained.”

Isn’t this Hillarys attorney or one of them?

I got a sense that Norm Coleman wasn’t exactly a beloved figure in Republican circles. He was a former Democrat and had the ignominious distinction of being one of the losing candidates when Jesse Ventura was elected governor in 1998.

So the ‘rats wound up n 2010 with 51 Senate seats (and caucused with two independents) making them, according to the article, “filibuster proof”.
Are you paying attention, Twitch? No more damned excuses.

Well, Trump is more of a fighter, so I don’t think he will just let something like that happen unopposed. Also, I really don’t think the national populace would put up with such a thing if they recount until they can flip the election to Hillary, or make it a tie. This is not Gore vs Bush, which was down to one state’s electoral votes, which were down to a few ten thousands of votes; Trump almost won in an electoral landslide.

The Ventura vote then was a similar slap in the face to the elites ruling us Minnesotans.

Unfortunately there really wasn’t a honeymoon.

The good thing is the Republicans in Wisconsin, including Walker are very familiar with recounts having gone through it with the Supreme Court contest a few years ago. There aren’t enough provisional votes in any of the states to overturn the election.

Apparently Minnesotans didn’t learn their lesson, sending Franken-stein back to the Senate for a second term a few years back.

This is the race where it was found there were enough non-citizens who cast votes that it could have decided the election, as the number was higher than the margin separating them in the certified results...and without this result, there would have been no Obamacare as he was the 60th vote...and the bogus prosecution of Ted Stevens which caused him to lose his Senate seat as well.
