The Founders gave us an Electoral College for the same reason that they gave us 2 Senators for each state in Congress - to preserve the rights of the smaller states vs. the bigger ones. In fact, Electoral College representation is EXACTLY tied to the number of Representatives + the number of Senators. Let’s NOT change that, you idiot. Otherwise, states like CA, NY and IL will decide most elections, not the entire country.
