He isn’t “smuggling” soap in, he is just taking it in. Soap isn’t illegal in Cuba, it’s just hard to come by.

That jerk Schlichter writes a article critical of Cuba and then points to a member of his wife's family. At best, he may complicated that person's life. At worst, he may have put them in danger. My post was not about soap.

You honestly don’t think that Cuba already knows about his relatives? People critical of totalitarian regimes fly in and out of them all the time. Relatives of those fly in and out of them all the time.

99% of the time, the regime doesn’t want an international incident on their hands, and so they just keep an eye on them.

His wife’s cousin was already on the watch list, as are any Cubans who fled the island. They know who he is and what he is doing, they don’t need this column to find that out.

I deeply hope, Lord willing, that Castro’s brother will be severely prompted to be better, reversing Fidel’s terrible record on civil and human rights—for ALL of the families of Cuba.
